10 ‘PR slip ups’: learning from others’ PR mistakes

In the PR industry, we love nothing more than giving ourselves a pat on the back to celebrate campaign successes, as last week’s PR Week Awards have shown.  But this made me think – don’t we learn just as much (if not more) from PR slip ups? What about the things that haven’t gone quite so well – here are ten examples:

1. Beware: kids and animals

Children and animals make great PR photographs but so many things can go wrong.I remember learning from a  photograph that appeared in many UK national papers in 2002 when of the screenwriter of ‘Crocodile Hunter:Collision Course’ was bloodily bitten on the nose whilst posing for photographs at the launch party.
